A full commentary will be given on a brief history of our country,our many agriculture / horticulture and forestry industries and the many attractions that are visited by tourists and local alike .Many of the attractions are at no extra cost for you.
Hobbiton Tour is 2 hour experience
We pass through breath-taking farm land as we make our way towards Hobbiton. A guided 2 hour fascinating Tour of the Hobbiton Movie Set, the largest out-door film set in the world, where The Lord of the Rings [trilogy] and The Hobbit [ trilogy] were filmed.
The charming countryside of the Shire,as described in JRR Tolkien’s books,was carefully created on this working sheep and beef farm.On your guided tour you’ll see Hobbit holes,the mill,the Green Dragon Inn ( where you will receive a complimentary drink ) and other structures created for the films,and learn how farmland was transformed into a living, breathing piece of Middle-earth.
Rotorua
After leaving Hobbiton Travel times is around 1 hour to Rotorua a city set on the southern shores of a large lake formed inside the crater of an extinct volcano.
We drive into the lakes area of Rotorua and explore the beautiful redwood forest and even admire the silver fern [one of our national symbols]
Its then onto a very active geothermal area [Te Puia] which includes 2 of only 8 spontaneous geysers in the world, you will even witness the birth of a new geyser,boiling mud pools / steaming fumaroles / hot mineral springs / kiwi birds / Maori Welcome / and action packed concert / native carving and weaving. [This is the best geothermal area to see as it covers so much when you only have one day]
