Day 1 – Private Tour Rotorua
Your private tour from Auckland departs your hotel at 8.00am, which means we get to make the most of the next two incredible days. We travel to the Rotorua geothermal wonderlands, incredible scenery and action packed arena via the Waihi Gorge. Many people don’t get to experience the Waihi Gorge but she is breathtaking.
After the Waihi Gorge you are in for another gorgeous treat – Tauranga.
Tauranga is situated in the Bay of Plenty (named by Captain Cook because this area had plenty of everything – seafood, fish, fruit … ). People arrive in the Bay of Plenty and they find it very hard to leave and you’ll soon discover why – white, sandy beaches and spectacular countryside just seem to go on forever.
Along the way of your private tour Rotorua, your delightful, warm hosts will share insider knowledge on the vibrant history of our country, our thriving, hearty agricultural, horticultural and forestry industries that’s sure to spark a connection of what makes us who we are today.
Visit attractions are at no extra cost to you, because the owners are just so damn proud of what they do and what they produce, they personally invite you in so you can see what all the fuss is about. Visit a kiwifruit orchard where you get to taste and sample the unique products this incredible little fruit can produce.
We drive into the lakes area of Rotorua and explore the beautiful redwood forest and take time to admire the silver fern – one of our national symbols. There will be lunch and coffee stops along the journey (all this fun makes us hungry and thirsty).
It’s then onto a very active geothermal area. This is where your private tour Rotorua goes up a notch. Quite frankly this area has more than one wonder of the world. Te Puia – which includes 2 of only 8 spontaneous geysers in the world, you will witness the birth of a new geyser, boiling mud pools, steaming fumaroles, hot mineral springs, kiwi birds, a traditional Maori welcome and action packed concert, native carving and weaving. We drive into Rotorua city visiting the government gardens seeing many hot spas and further geothermal activity. Steam vents gushing from peoples’ back yards and gutters at the side of the streets, which never fails to delight. There is so much to see at no extra cost to you.
You have the choice of 2 Rotorua Hotels both of which include full breakfast: The Rydges Hotel or the Millennium Hotel arriving at around 4:30pm.
Evening
In the evening you can choose to chill out and put your feet up at the hotel or if you want to try something a bit different why not give a traditional hangi meal and concert a go? This will be at your own cost but it comes highly recommended and it’s a bit of a smoky, earthy taste sensation – all will be revealed!

Day 2
After a good nights sleep we pick you up at your hotel at 8.30am ready for another awesome day, where you get a choice of two private guided local tours: Private Tour Hobbiton or Private Tour Waitomo – both are extremely popular.
The day starts with an entertaining world famous live sheep show at Agrodome. The MC here will keep you thoroughly entertained (and of course those beautiful sheep) from start to finish – it’s more than ever expected.
Next you have to make the choice from two options for the day:
1. Private Tour Waitomo – Waitomo Caves: Enjoy the limestone shafts, stunning Cathedral Cavern and take a unique boat ride through the Glow Worm Grotto. We also can visit a beautiful waterfall with a short bush walk. And on the way there is a visit to a natural bridge.
Waitomo Caves are the place where myths and magic come alive. If nature is your thing then you get to explore a place that feels like time has stood still. It quite simply is magical.
2. Hobbiton Movie Set (Lord of the Rings): Hobbit holes, The Green Dragon Inn, the Mill and other structures can be viewed and you can see how this beautiful piece of Waikato farmland was transformed into The Shire of Middle-earth.
There is no place on earth you can visit the real Hobbiton – we are so proud to have created this Private Tour Hobbiton with you in mind. Sometimes we even have to scratch our heads to think this place was a movie set and not completely real, because it starts to feel like reality! Very cool and very exciting!
We return to Auckland passing through stunning countryside returning to your hotel around 5:30 pm. Who can believe we did all that in just two days!
